Anyone suggesting a place confirms that the information is accurate to the best of their knowledge, that they wrote it themselves and that it does not infringe third-party rights. There is no entitlement to inclusion or permanent display of an entry.

Our place dataset is distributed freely under the Open Database License 1.0 (ODbL) together with the Database Contents License 1.0 (DbCL). Anyone suggesting a place grants us for that purpose the right, free of charge and without limitation in time or territory, to review, editorially adapt and publish that information and to distribute it as part of this dataset under both licences, including the right to grant corresponding sublicences to third parties. Copyright stays with the contributor, who remains free to use their contribution as they wish.

Anyone contributing a photo confirms that they took it themselves or are entitled to dispose of it, and chooses one of the two licences Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) or Creative Commons Zero (CC0). A pseudonym is enough as attribution. We do not publish photos in which people are recognisable; we check that when we review the suggestion, not at the moment of upload. Metadata is removed by the submitter’s browser before the photo reaches us, and a photo that still carries any is not accepted at all.

Anyone who finds a photo or a detail on the map that concerns them or infringes rights can report it through the "Something wrong?" link on the info card of the place; it opens an e-mail with the place and the link already filled in. If the report is justified, we remove the entry. Details that come from OpenStreetMap belong there: where an OSM object sits behind a place, the info card links it, and a correction made there reaches this map with the next data run.
