CoolingSpots

Become a partner: the map of cool places for your place and your region

CoolingSpots shows for free and without an account where it is cool and shady on hot days. Tourism organisations already embed the map freely today. As a tourism organisation or the operator of a cool place, from summer 2027 you can highlight your region and your favourite places in your own words.

Visible when it gets hot

As soon as a heatwave arrives, many people look for somewhere to spend the day comfortably: a shady garden, a swim in cold water or a museum behind thick walls. Those are the hours when they open CoolingSpots.

For day-trip destinations this is an opportunity at the right time. Your entry stays all season right where people search in the heat, and tourism organisations bring their tips for cooling off to every place in their region.

Your words, your photo and your link appear on the map, clearly recognisable as your information. The coolness level and the order still come from the data. That keeps the map credible, and your entry benefits from it too.

Frequent questions from operators and regions

How do I promote my destination on hot days?
By having your place where people search in the heat. Your partner entry appears as a gold marker on the map and with your text, photo and link in the place panel. The map is available in four languages.
Which businesses benefit from a partner entry?
Places that are genuinely pleasant on hot days: museums and exhibitions with cool rooms, baths and swimming spots, gardens and parks, cafes and restaurants with a shady garden, show mines, caves, churches and monasteries. Saunas, thermal spas and sun terraces are not among them.
Can we embed the map without being a partner?
Yes, for free and without a partnership. Tourism organisations, municipalities and regions embed the map for their area, with the categories that suit them. The map looks after itself; there is nothing to maintain.
Does my entry also appear in embedded maps?
Yes, on the CoolingSpots map and in every embedded map that shows your place, for example at tourism organisations. The regional partner's line appears there only when the map is limited to your region.
How long does an entry run and what does it cost?
One season, 1 May to 30 September, ending automatically, for the partner entry and the regional partner alike, which includes three to five partner entries. You find the price with each offer; embedding the map stays free.
Does my place get a better coolness level with an entry?
No. Coolness level, order and marker size come from the data for every place. Your entry adds your words, your photo and your link, marked as the partner's information.
When is the right time for an entry?
Before the season: an entry that is already in place is visible from the first hot day. Best get in touch in winter or spring.
My place is not on the map yet. Is that still possible?
Yes. A partner entry can be a new place that does not exist in the open data: a monastery garden, a museum courtyard, a cafe. We check that it really is cool there in the heat, and we set the gold marker.
